Lastly, the mucous membranes are irritated which causes the affected person to sneeze, cough, choke and have temporary breathing difficulties.

Once hit with a pepper spray, the effects are only temporary. The duration can end to approximately at least 20 minutes to an hour. That is why all you need to do is run and call for help once it takes its effect. The effects are not long term or permanent and it can even lessen if the face and skin is subjected or rinsed in flowing water.

The pepper spray is very useful if you only need it for self defense. You must know how to use it so that the attacker will really experience the effects and you can immediately escape from a very dangerous situation. This buys you all the time to call and alert the police officers of what happened so that the attacker will be dealt with immediately.
