Scooter Accessories You Can’t Forget on a Trip

Planning a trip or a vacation is supposed to be fun, so thinking about a canopy for when you’re outdoors and a way to stow all your souvenir purchases is a natural way to plan which accessories you’ll need for your scooter. But there are some that you need to put on your list to be sure your scooter doesn’t fail you when you need it most.

Chargers: A scooter charger is something you should take a long, even if you plan to have plenty of time to charge your scooter each night. A travel charger allows you to charge your scooter using the cigarette lighter/accessory port of almost any vehicle. Consider a couple of the situations where you might not be able to charge your scooter normally. A storm and power outage could prevent you from being able to charge your scooter, but if you have a travel charger and a vehicle you won’t have to miss anything you had planned. And vacations are such busy times that it’s possible you could simply forget to charge it, or think it’s plugged in properly when it’s not. With a travel scooter charger, you won’t have to face the disappointment and hassle of not being able to use your equipment as you intended.

Ramps: A suitcase ramp is a ramp that folds up and typically has a handle for easy carrying. This is the perfect scooter accessory for a vacation. Not only are these ramps lightweight and easy to tote, they can also be used to get a scooter in and out of a vehicle. When you’re going somewhere new, you may find that some areas aren’t as accessible as you’d hoped. Having a handy suitcase ramp along means that you’ll be able to overcome at least some of those obstacles and still enjoy the area.

Bags and Storage Compartments: Seatback bags, armrest bags and tiller bags that go on the front of the scooter are great for hauling things so you don’t have to carry them. But when you’re on vacation, don’t store anything irreplaceable in any of these bags, just to be on the safe side. An underseat storage glove box is best for items that you purchase and anything valuable because they’re stored away, hidden and protected far better than anything in a bag on the outside of your scooter.

Lifts and Trailers: If you want to transport your scooter behind a vehicle or you need a way to lift your scooter into a vehicle, then a lift is something you won’t want to try to do without. Even if you don’t use one locally, using one while traveling will be a vacation-worthy treat once you see how easy a lift is to use. The lift does all the work and allows you to store the scooter in the vehicle or secure it to the back. Don’t forget to use a cover to make sure your scooter is safe from outdoor weather.

Another good option, especially for a very small vehicle, is a pull-behind trailer. Your vehicle only needs to have a standard trailer hitch and you can tow your scooter wherever your travels take you.
