Have women always worn white on their wedding days? No, not at all. For those who don’t wish to have a white wedding, there are two ways to introduce some color into the wedding dress. The first option would be to choose a wedding dress which is either pure white, or any other shade of white. A colored sash can then be worn around the waist, or perhaps the lace work and embroidery can be colored.

If color is going to be added to a wedding dress, then it’s crucial to make sure that the hue actually does compliment the shade of white which has been chosen for the wedding dress. Here again, if you decide to get married in a colored dress, then you should always take a look at all the various hues of a particular color. Remember, if for example you decide to get married in a yellow dress, you’ll be able to choose bright yellow, canary yellow, or simply a soft, pale yellow.

Tips on Using Colors

It’s important to remember that practically any type of white wedding dress can be transformed into a colored wedding gown. The key to success is to choose a hue which compliments your individual skin tone. For example, even though you may really like fuchsia, if it doesn’t suit your skin tone, then you’d be far better off choosing a different color, and one which matches your complexion.

Ideally, you should try to get your hands on a few fabric samples. This would allow you to hold the samples next to your skin in order to determine whether or not a particular color suits your complexion. Basically, you want to choose a color that brings out the best in you. If you already have any type of dress at home in a certain color which blends nicely with your complexion, you could even wear that dress when you go shopping for a wedding dress so that you’ll be able to let sales staff know what color you’re actually after.

Remember, you’ll only be able to start planning the other colors you intend using on your wedding day once you’ve actually gone ahead and chosen the shade of your wedding dress. Then, and only then, will you be able to start thinking about what color the bridesmaids dresses should be, and you’ll also be able to start choosing colors for all the other aspects of your wedding, such as the decorations, the invitations, and even the venue itself.
