When to Use Self Defense

There are a lot of reasons for learning proper self defense tactics. However, it is important to understand when to implement it. The laws surrounding self defense typically vary depending on where you live, so it is important to take them into consideration when you are faced with a potentially violent situation. But if you believe that your life is in danger, then you can rest assured that you are allowed to use any force necessary to ward off your opponent. This is one of the first things that you will learn if you take a close combat training course with Chris Pizzo.

Although his training courses are largely done through DVD’s, his insightful wisdom comes from first hand experience. When he was faced with a potentially lethal situation he knew that he had every right to use as much force as was needed. But unfortunately, he was recovering from chemotherapy treatment and could not defend himself or his wife against the violent attackers that descended upon his car. It was a case of mistaken identity, but the couple would not have made it out alive if the police hadn’t come to the scene. Ever since that day, he has dedicated his life to learning as much as possible about self defense practises and bringing everything he has learned to as many people as possible.

Close combat training is what Chris Pizzo came up with after his years of travellings the world testing out different forms of martial arts. He had studied ju juitsu, karate, tai kwan do and every other type of martial arts imaginable but something just didn’t fit. He recognized that each style had its own merits, but he was unable to find something that encompassed everything that he envisioned in the perfect model of self defense. Until the day he discovered close combat training, and his life took a dramatic turn from student to teacher. He studied with the most qualified teachers the world has to offer and then brought everything he had learned back home. That is when he started teaching others about this type of self defense style and began to make his succesful DVD series.

This type of self defense borrows from many of the more traditional types of self defense but has been made easily adaptable to any type of violent altercation. It can be used if your opponent has a knife or a gun, or even if your opponent is twice your size. And another thing that it offers that most competitors don’t, is the training of the mind as well as the body. As Pizzo explains, the battle of minds is just as important as the battle of fists. And the person who is calmer and more collected and thinking rationally will likely end up the victor in the end. So if you decide to try self defense training, the first thing you will likely learn is the ability to master your own mind. It is obviously quite easy to become stressed out when faced with violence, but if you can keep a cool head, you have the upper hand before the fight even starts.
