Why Not a Sonata?

Have you ever bought a Hyundai Sonata? Ever taken a ride in one of these Korean mid-sized economy cars? Well, neither have I, and I never wanted to until I got a look at the completely redesigned 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Earlier generations for the Hyundai Sonata sold well, had a reasonable price and have proven to be reliable and comfortable.. So, it’s no surprise that an old sonata made for a great car.

But, let’s not dwell on the past when the future looks so bright. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata is enticing , and I know you have seen plenty of these cars around town. So let me bottom line this and give you all the necessary numbers. The Sonata is the cheapest (or close to it) of all its rivals in the mid-range sedan segment. The Sonata pricing starts at around $23,000. The Hyundai Sonata has the best warranty with a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. And the fuel efficiency is 22mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway which also leads the class.

Safety

The Sonata is also one of the safest cars available today. Front and side curtain airbags are standard. Advanced traction and stability control permit the Sonata to grasp the road. In fact, the IIHS has listed the Hyundai Sonata as one of the safest cars available. Speaking of the IIHS, the Hyundai Sonata has also received excellent scores regarding NTHSA crash tests.

Interior

The wheel base of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata has been extended several inches.. Interior space grows and the car also leads the class in terms of cabin space for its passengers. Bluetooth technology and touch screen navigation is on board as well, setting the 2011 Hyundai Sonata further apart from the crowd.

Suspension

The Sonata is the best car in its grouping pulling .82 Gs of lateral acceleration. This trumps the Toyota and the Nissan Altima which each pull .77 Gs and the Ford Fusion and Honda Accord which each pull .79 Gs. So as you can see, the Sonata is the most sports car like of the group. Superior strut and multi-link rear set up complete the sporty handling and feel.. The Hyundai Sonata also runs wide 45-series tires on 18-inch rims. One knock on the Hyundai Sonata is that it can give up a bit more handling prowess in the name of ride quality, but no car is perfect, and the Hyundai Sonata is perfectly acceptable.

Power

The Hyundai Sonata rocks a re-invented technology laden power train. The engine is a 2.4 lt. 4-cylnder. It has DOHC and direct injection. A 6-speed automatic transmission directs power and enhances the driver’s experience. The sporty look is also enhanced by a dual exhaust system. Numbers come in at 200hp and 186 lb. ft. torque. Although the Sonata is not one of the most powerful sedans on the road today it is one of the most fuel efficient. So, buyers looking for fuel economy should look no further then the Hyundai Sonata.

Price

Base price comes in at $23,315 with a loaded version selling at $26,000. With all these great features, and a 10 year 100k mile warranty, the Hyundai Sonata is a popular choice for many. Already more and more of these attractive new vehicles are gracing the roadways. And, the best is yet to come. Rumors abound of a turbo version which will no doubt put down some serious horsepower. The Sonata will also be available in a hybrid version; which will no doubt build upon the already impressive fuel economy numbers. Sounds like the Hyundai Sonata is going to be a big player in the sedan market.
