America’s Ultimate Cookout Revealed

For the season, America presents its best grilling cities, naming Missouri’s St. Louis as the number one city homing some of the excellent BBQ restaurants in the country.

St. Louis is exceptionally known for its extraordinary barbecue and rubs. It can be demonstrated by the long standing grills used by its recognized dining places to this time. “That’s because we know nothing can bring family and friends together like a cookout with that great smoky, real barbecue flavor of charcoal-grilled foods”, said Earline Walker, owner of one of the city’s best restaurants.

In case you want to throw your own backyard cookout, simply start with a grill. There are a variety of grills available to buy from charcoal to gas-powered , as well as slow smokers that you can readily use. Kingsford brings out its new charcoal briquets showcasing Charcoal with Sure Fire Grooves™ for fast and easy lighting.

Simple and Easy to Do

Make use of a chimney to light the briquets. Just set loosely wadded newspaper in the lower chamber, put the charcoal at the top and light the paper. The briquets are set when they turn in ash-gray color. Pour them into the grill. You can buy Chimneys at any hardware, home and garden stores, or you can visit Kingsford for further details on lighting techniques.

Works with Seasonal Side Dishes

Side dishes are probably everyone’s favorite. Develop spectacular seasonal sides by scattering fresh greens such as summer squash and corn on the cob with Hidden Valley® The Original Ranch® Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix, to substitute butter. Similarly, it is possible to heat side dishes, like beans and veggies in a saucepan on the grates, or grill pizza and quesadillas for a really good smoky, real barbecue flavor.

5-Minute Instant Dessert

You can grill desserts. Just make sure to brush the grates before grilling to remove tastes of meat, or marinades from actual meat. Damp slices of apple, pineapple and melon with KC Masterpiece® Barbecue Sauce and slightly grill to caramelize the topping. Serve with ice cream.

Dream Outside of the Kitchen

Imagine how possible it is to grill just about anything! Grill chicken wings instead of deep frying them. You can even bake them as they are conventionally prepared. Try the mouth-watering goodness of this grilled chicken wings recipe developed by Earline and Otis Walker, owners of Smoki O’s, St. Louis.

Grilled Chicken Wings

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1- 1/2 to 2 hours

What makes this chicken recipe awesome is its sauce, which is spicy but not really all that hot. Now you don’t have to dwell in St. Louis to have a little kicky, a little offbeat, a little unique, but home cooking fine menu. With these tips from Walker, you can create your own pork and ribs smoked out back with fine Missouri cherry wood to give it a nice aroma.
