Best Man Wedding Speech – Make That Perfect Day Just a Little Better
Many couples remember their wedding day as one of the best days of their lives. Unfortunately, the ceremony brings a lot of nervousness by itself, not even counting the nervousness of two people preparing to spend the rest of their lives together. A wedding speech is one of the most nerve-racking parts of a marriage ceremony. The bride and groom want their day to be perfect, and don’t want to stumble over a poor speech, and anyone else that would like to speak is terrified that they’ll bomb and cast a shadow over an otherwise beautiful day. Luckily, writing a good speech doesn’t have to be hard. If you time your time to prepare and practice and follow a few bits of advice, you’ll be fine.
As with any public speaking, confidence is key. Give yourself the confidence you need by being properly prepared beforehand. Mainly, have a speech prepared and read it out loud many times. Practice in front of a mirror to make sure you are smiling, and when the time comes to speak, think of something that makes you laugh. This is a happy occasion, so do your best to smile. If you are especially worried, it might not be a bad idea to speak to a few close friends and ask them for help in leading the laughter and applause at the appropriate moments.
Watch what you consume before giving your speech. While the obvious caution here is not to get drunk before you speak, it is also important not to eat anything that could interfere. Have a snack a little while beforehand, but don’t eat something that’ll have you running to the bathroom when you’re supposed to be giving your speech.
If you’re having trouble, thinking of something to write about, talk to other people. You don’t have to write the speech yourself. Ask other people who are close to the bride and groom for ideas. A good tip is to think about why you are the one giving the speech. What experiences have you shared that they want you to speak at the biggest day of their lives. Write about that and your speech will come naturally.
When you stand up to speak, first take a look around the room. Don’t be nervous; everyone in that room is hoping you deliver a great speech. Try to imagine them giving you the responses you want, and it’ll help you make it happen. If you can see everyone laughing, then you will deliver the joke at the perfect time and in just the right way that’ll have everyone laughing for real. Audiences strongly respond to the subtle emotions you project. Practice projecting the right emotions, and people will respond.
While wedding speeches are a big deal, they don’t have to make you fret. If you make sure that you stay calm and confident, people will listen and respond well. As long as you make sure you don’t let yourself get flustered, you will be fine. I just want to put a simple thought forward, in a nutshell. Never try to impress anybody gathered over there as in that process you lose your originality which may sometimes lead you to stammering which is the last thing any man in this world would wish to do on his D-day.
