Car Cover Protection For Your Investment
How much does it cost to get a paint job on your wheels? Anything under $1,000 is not going to be worth it, even for a typical family saloon and certainly not for anything special. A reasonable paint job will cost you over $1,500 and start going up from there as the car and paint job quality start increasing and even spraying a panel will set you back $100’s, even with good car insurance to cover it (watch out for those deductibles and premium increases after a claim).
Now how much does a car cover cost you?
If you don’t know the answer, you can be certain it is a fraction of the cost of a paint job. Even a high end, customized car cover will set you back less than $200 but the return on that investment is a heck of lot more than saving you the cost of a paint job!
A good quality car cover will provide the following protection and much more:
– Water protection – water resistant car covers will ensure your car is protected from the ravages of water and ice, especially salt water. Rust and mold will accumulate wherever water has a chance to build up, and your vehicle will smell if it is left for any length of time.
– Sun protection – cars are as susceptible to harmful UV radiation as you and I – they do get “sun burnt” and this will affect the paint job plus the car interior, both of which will fade in color and have unsightly discoloration.
– Air circulation – good car covers will allow the air to circulate which also helps moisture to be dispersed and prevented from accumulating. Allowing air circulation is a great way to stop mold and musty smells from affecting your car.
– Strong and robust – a car cover will also allow a good degree of protection from bird droppings, incidental scratches and dings, falling tree branches and twigs as well as a host of other potential physical hazards.
– Easy handling – a quality car cover will be made from advanced materials which provide all of the above protections, but will also be easy to fit, easy to pack away and store and be ready for use whenever you need them.
Ignore the math calculation for the moment and consider what it means to you driving around in your mint ride. There is no better feeling than be able to turn heads in your car because it looks like a million bucks, but at the same time, it doesn’t have to cost you anywhere near that!
Now let’s do the math calculation – say a top-of-the-line car cover comes in at $200; you use it properly and that halves the amount of polishing and car washing you need to do – that costs say $10 (and that’s low) plus all of your time – now you need do it say half the time, – car cleaning drops from say $500 a year to $250 if were cleaning it every week.
Or how about this – you scratch a door panel, not too bad but bad enough that it won’t come out with a polish and repair kit. It is too expensive to get repaired in the shop because that’s $500 minimum. You sell the car, but because of the sub-standard body work, you now lose $1,000 on the resale price or loss in part-exchange value. How’s that really expensive, top-of-the-range car cover costing $200 looking now?
The fact is, you’ll be able to source a very good quality car cover for a lot less than $200 and still enjoy the same protection – if you treat your vehicle like an investment, it makes a lot of sense to take extra care of it, and that’s why you need a car cover.
