Honda Produces a Winning Crossover SUV : The 2010 CR-V
There are many contenders in the uber competitive crossover SUV segment including Toyota’s RAV4 and the Ford’s Escape. Crossover SUV’s are extremely versatile given the fact that they handle and drive like a car while providing the spaciousness and cargo room of a bona fide SUV. One of the main contenders in this market is Honda’s 2010 CR-V, an affordable compact SUV with lots of amenities and built with the quality that you would expect from Honda. In addition, it boasts good fuel economy, comfortable seating and a redesigned look for 2010. The grille has been dressed up with two bars and has been formed out of chrome. There is a new bumper plus a set of ten spoke seventeen inch wheels enhance the car’s handsome look.
The engine that equips the CRV consists of four cylinders, which is now boosted up due to the addition of fourteen additional horsepower. It’s a 2.4 Liter with 180 horsepower and 161 pound feet of torque. It’s not exactly a race car or super fast car by any stretch of the imagination, but that’s not what shoppers are looking for when they are considering this automobile. Instead they are attracted to Honda’s reliability, practicality and fair cost. As far as mileage is concerned, it gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway, pretty decent for a SUV. The CR-V is agile and handles the road quite well and speeding up is very pleasant due to the addition of an additional 14 Horsepower compared to last year’s model.
Shoppers get to choose from 4 separate trims : LX, EX, EX-L and the deluxe line EX-L. All models come with an air conditioning system, a keyless entry system, a stereo system including a compact disc player, a cruise control system and a telescoping steering wheel. The trunk space is large and spacious with a total of 35.7 cubic feet and expands even further if you put the back seats down. Other features available with the deluxe EX-L version include heated outside mirrors, seats made out of quality leather, compatibility with most mp3 music players, heated front seats and an upgraded stereo audio system. A navigation system can also be added at an additional cost which includes functionality with Bluetooth devices and allows you to place telephone calls without dialing buttons.
An abundance of safety features are in place to protect the occupants. An Anti Lock Brake System prevents dangerous wheel lock-ups and a Tire Pressure Monitoring system alerts you when your tire pressure needs to be increased or decreased. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering structure distributes crash force more evenly during a collision and provides for enhanced protection. The seat belts use a pretensioning device which tightens the belt during an imminent collision. In addition there is also an advanced air bag system installed.
The 2010 CR-V is suitable for anyone needing generous passenger space, a big trunk and the latest safety features at an affordable price. A base model is priced at around $21,535, a very competitive price from a name with a solid reputation; Honda.
