When we were still young, our teachers taught us how to memorize poems and declamation pieces successfully. One of the literary pieces that came into mind is Joyce Kilmer’s poem entitled Trees. The poem is short and sweet, making it a perfect piece to practice memorization. Tree cutting as an activity may seem to be trivial in how it is done but its effects come in multiples, especially when there are no seedlings planted in replacement for those that have been cut down. Natural disasters such as flashfloods and landslides are becoming a frequent news feed on a daily basis. If you come to think of it, these natural disasters do have a connection with the dwindling number of trees around the world. As nature is a system where everything is connected to each other, the current events that are happening are triggered by a small decision or action like tree cutting.
