Looking at the collections and what is likely to be fashionable next year is a great way to help you make up your mind what to buy in the end of summer sales this year. You can find great pieces that will look fashionable and on trend next summer. So here is a round up of the high lights of New York Fashion Week.
DianeVon Furstenberg is well know for her famous wrap dress but her clothes are also considered very feminine and described as making women feel powerful. For spring summer 2011 she showed a collection of beautifully bold and striking prints. Geometric prints and some great tailoring is what really defined the seasons collection. Think black and white patterns with accents of bright blue or brown.
Catherine Malandrino is another designer well known for her feminine and wearable designs. Her SS11 collection included sheer trousers, crochet detailing and an overall feeling of safari. Accessorised with chunky tribal style necklaces, she created an interesting and practical look for every day wear.
At Proenza Shouler, winters love of everything lady like continues into the summer. For summer though the heavy woollen fabrics have been replaced by a line skirts and feminine blouses in floaty, delicate materials in the palest of tones and also some contrasting black. The collection even featured some tie dye.
At Rodarte the Mulleavy sisters really mixed things up with combinations of stripes, checks and other geometric designs in interesting shapes which included collared tops with off the shoulder sleeves, high waisted trousers and peplum waists. The colour schemes were a combination of navy and white patterns mixed with shades of brown and cream.
The Victoria Beckham collection of dresses was another success showing that despite having no formal design training she does really know what a women likes to wear. The dresses are designed for herself and whilst all are fairly simple, they are uncompromising in finding the perfect cut. The collection included her signature style of sheath dress as well as a few other styles thrown in for good measure.
At Alexander Wang, the master of laid back and understated casuals, there were plenty of pale pastel colours, slouchy summer knits, some of his much loved relaxed tailoring and a mixture of tapered and cropped trousers. This look is perfect for women who want to look trendy and fashionable but in a very relaxed and understated way. It can be achieved by layering and mixing slouch, pale pastel pieces and throwing in some tan leather belts, shoes or a bag.
These are just a few of the highlights if New York Fashion Week, there was plenty more collections to see and by next summer, it is likely taht you will be starting to see many of these looks appearing on the high street.
