The first step is to buy the lamp. Many third party electric stores carry replacement lamps for a number of makes and models of projection TVs. You must know the exact model number and series of your TV. Once you have the lamp, the actual process of replacing it can begin.
The first step for installing replacement lamps is to make sure that the power cord is unplugged from the outlet. Let the TV cool down for about five minutes. This will ensure that the lamps and the lamp assembly will not burn your hand or explode when touched. Turn the TV around to locate the lamp door. Unscrew the door open. Some models have thumbscrews that are of great help. Pull the lamp assembly out by grasping the handle and pulling the lamp down and out. Remove it.
Never touch the glass part of replacement lamps. Before replacing the lamp itself, use the cloth to remove excess dust from the assembly and the areas you can reach. Dust is the most important reason of the failure of lamps. Line up the grove of the lamp with the grove of the lamp assembly. Slide the lamp in carefully and make sure that the assembly fits snugly into the compartment. Wipe the compartment one more time and replace the screws or thumb screws. Connect the power cable to the outlet and switch on the TV. Let it run for a minute or so confirm that everything is ok. Congratulations. You have successfully replaced the lamp.
