See Las Vegas Through Non-Gambling Eyes
People come to Las Vegas primarily for two reasons: gambling and wacky weddings. Yet the city and surrounding area have a lot more to offer the tourist than drive-through chapels, casinos and some of the best hotels. In Las Vegas you can actually leave those darkened gambling halls and find many things to enjoy doing out in the sun and fresh air. Some activities you can participate in are golf, horse back riding, hiking, shopping, swimming and riding a rollercoaster – just to name a few!
Fresh Air
Along with the some of America’s best hotels, in Las Vegas there are some fantastic golf clubs, all with varying levels of courses. You will be spoilt for choice with the variety, but make sure you research the course as some can be a little challenging. If you don’t want to be too far from The Strip and its beloved casinos, then you could spend a while in the Bali Hai Golf Club, which offers great views of The Strip from the greens. If you are lucky you may even spot a celebrity! There are also some brilliant hikes surrounding the city, and they range from easy, family friendly trails to challenging treks. The scenery is nothing short of stunning and quite different from the luscious greens in the north of America.
Children’s Time
You are staying at one of the best hotels in Las Vegas, you have glamour around you, the hotel casino below you, but you also have your children with you. If you have come to Las Vegas as a family, you may want to steer clear of the gambling tables. Luckily Las Vegas offers some great alternative child-friendly fun. The New York-New York, has some great rollercoasters guaranteed to thrill any child and, if this is the kind of activity your kids love, then you should also take a trip to the Stratosphere hotel which is the tallest observation tower in the US. This hotel offers a delicious selection of exciting rides at the very top of the building and the views of TheStrip, if you manage to open your eyes, are stunning. There are also a host of aquariums, zoos and kid shows along The Strip and if these don’t tickle your fancy then you can spend a few hours in the 5.5-acre indoor amusement park at Circus Circus Casino.
Pampering
If you are looking for some R&R, then fear not, as there are brilliant spas attached to some of the best hotels in Las Vegas. So if the gambling has taken its toll, you won’t have to move very far to get your soothing massage. You can indulge in saunas, Jacuzzis, massages, manicures and facials. Not all therapy comes with relaxation however, and if you are looking for retail therapy then Las Vegas is the place to be. Just minutes from The Strip is the Boulevard Mall, with its vast array of shops that are just waiting for you and your holiday money. There are also a great number of fashion outlets available if you are looking for a bargain and, closer to home for those heavy bags, most of the best hotels in Las Vegas have some great shops within their complexes.
