Skills For Handling AV Cables
Is this the case in your home? Wires spread all over the floor, unruly connection wires and cables hanging from the walls. Are you displeased with the long clumsy loops behind your audio/visual cabinets? The solution lies in learning a few tips on how to manage AV cables to complete the comfort of your and help you use your electrical equipments more conveniently.
There are several things you need to do in order to help you use your cables optimally. This is regardless of where and how you choose to use the cables. Excellent cables will help your electrical equipments function well.
Ensure that cables which are used to connect your equipments do not run close to power cables. This is to avoid the two from being negatively affected. In cases where it might be difficult to separate them completely, minimize the potential interference by crossing them at right angles with the power cables.
Shorter cables will certainly cost less and are easier to manage. But if the connection from the equipment to the wall is at a distance, it is advisable to use long ones. This is in order to avoid stretching too tightly. A long cable allows one to run the cables round corners and other obstacles comfortably.
Ensure that the coating around cables remains intact and that their round shape is maintained. Avoid running the cables round sharp corners or holding them too tightly on walls with wire tacks. Replace cables with inflamed insulations or deformed shapes promptly to ensure maximum performance of your system.
Use such accessories as wire clips or connection piping to bundle together cables together and well secured in place. Clamp the cables with plastic strands specifically designed for this purpose keeping them neat with a knot after every three to four feet. Use clips of appropriate sizes to reduce the risk of deforming the cables when trying to fit them in the clamp. If using connection piping, ensure that they are wide enough to accommodate the bundle. You can also paint the piping to match your decor.
Another easy option is to run your wires along the carpet edges along your walls baseboard. Ensure that there is enough space to accommodate the size of your bundle. Remember not to run your wires straight into the corner, spread them a little to allow smoother curves. Clip the bundle every one to two feet to keep it in place.
Use cable labels to identify and mark the different cables to their respective sockets to avoid confusing. This will also enable you to differentiate AV cables from power cables and detach them within appropriate distance. Excess length of cables should be kept in S shape or figure eight to prevent interference due to crossing magnetic fields. Do not loop round excess cable.
To connect AV cables to equipment inside cabinets, consider drilling hole through the cabinet wall and pass your cables through to your equipment. Protect the cables from rough edges of the cabinet by taping the points of contact.
