I have no idea whether there were Staines Hotels in 4000 to 3000 BC, but there has been evidence of people living in Staines since that time. Staines came to prominence in 43 AD when Claudius led the Romans into Britain in. It was soon after this that the first Staines Bridge was built. It provided an important crossing point over the Thames on main road from London to Silchester, near Reading. The Roman name for Staines was “ad Pontes” (plural “at the bridges”).
So Staines has been a strategic location for many years and nowadays by staying in any of the Staines hotels, you have a number of attractions within easy distance: Windsor Castle, Legoland, Windsor, Ascot and Kempton Park Races, Thorpe Park, Eton College, The Runnymede Memorial, Wentworth Golf Club, Twickenham Stadium, Heathrow Airport are all easily accessible, the train to London takes just 35 minutes or you can just enjoy Staines and the beautiful River Thames.
