Suddenly Single Phenomenon
Do you wake up in the morning looking for a familiar scent that’s not there anymore? Do you suddenly have a lot of time watching TV at home while having your dinner; or do you simply catch yourself taking a good look around your place and realize something is missing? If your life is empty all of a sudden, then you must be experiencing the suddenly single phenomenon. It’s the experience of being with someone for a long time and suddenly become solitary, on your own, also known as being single. The hardest part about being suddenly single is not only about a ruined routine but dealing with the lost feelings, effort, and time you have invested in someone. The right thing to do is to reconcile, but if it was a bad break up then it will just be really hard. Single people are caught in the middle of two options: the first option is to figure out what went wrong and the second is to leave it as it is and move on. Most of the time, people choose the second. People think it’s safer if they would just move on rather than look back because they think it could not change a thing anyway. A man would usually think that his partner is still the same person; hence, confronting would just make the history repeat itself, so what’s the use? But on second thought, what if confronting all the questions for the last time could make everything right? How many chances do we miss out on by simply choosing to be on the safe side?
You may avoid the confrontation but you can never avoid yourself. If you can’t find enough courage to reconcile, just give yourself some time and think about all the problems with relationship that you had gone through. Then think if it’s still worth a try. However, you must first check your motives before making up. Do you want to get back an ex because you are used to having someone beside you; or do you want to win back your partner because you remember the happy times you had together, and you suddenly miss that person? If these were the realizations you have, then it will never work the second time around. But if you want to get back an ex after realizing how imperfect your partner is and you decide that you can live with that, then you should really try to work things out even if you think there’s only a slight chance of success.
However, problems with relationship do not end after the kissing and making up. Problems will always be there, testing the relationship and how far it could go. Sometimes, you save the relationship not because you want to save yourself from the suddenly single phenomenon, but because after all the fights and differences, you know at the end of the day that it’s all worth it and the person you’re with is the one you want to be with forever.
