The ABC’s on Wedding Cake Choice
You may be browsing some websites in trying to have your bridal cake made. Before you decide on your wedding cake, take some time to consider some aspects of that oh-so-pricey baked goods of yours. These reminders are easier to remember – it’s like learning your alphabet.
A for add ons. Do not overdo your add ons. Not just it puts a dent on your budget but an overly decorated wedding cake does not appear so nice, not to mention, not too edible, too! Moderate your excitement. Take a walk in the park before finally putting a finger to that cake.
B for browse. Browse the web for wedding cake bakers, bridal cake toppers, designs and advices. Taking time to see what these websites offer will give you a wider perspective on choosing the best wedding cake that very well suits you and your groom’s personality. Who knows, you might stumble on a design that can be done on a much lower price by the other hymeneals baker.
B is also for book your order early. You don’t want a cake that is haphazardly done for a major event in your life. A cake that was done in a haste manner may not have the details you specified or worst, you will be cutting a ready-made cake from a pastry shop for your wedding.
C for check for your wedding cake baker’s reference. This does not mean that you need the top-of-the-line baker or the baker who made the cake of actress Grace Kelly, but you definitely don’t need something that is low of quality to be served to your guests! What you should know if the bakers you consider to bake your cake have a creditable reputation that precedes. You should also check if they deliver according to what they promise. Sometimes reputations can be a little bit rose-colored especially when the delay of delivery was compensated in an overly decorated wedding cake.
C is also for color. Consider some safe color combinations of that wedding cake. Though beautiful to showcase, there are color combinations that when mixed with other colors do not bring out a good taste. Play safe with cream or white then accentuate the ribbons with that of the wedding color theme.
D is for do not, I repeat, do not even contemplate of baking your own cake. You cannot begin to imagine the possibilities of the stress it can bring to you. The question is do you want that stress?
E is for eat your piece of cake. It does not mean to eat a piece before the cake cutting commence, but do try to taste a sample of the baker’s final product. This way, any specifications that you want to have modified can be accomplished instead of wasting a good amount of money with a cake that cannot be enjoyed.
F is for flavor. Take into account the flavor you prefer. This does not only go hand in hand with color combination but also the foundation of the wedding cake. There are people who cannot tolerate the taste of fruit on cake. To be safe, choose either vanilla or chocolate flavored. Careful consideration of the possibility of kids eating a piece of your wedding cake should also be done if in case you want to blend in whiskey to your cake.
G is for the groom. Never decide on your own. It is always better to consult your partner. Don’t forget, “two heads are better than one.”
