Environment Friendly Wedding Celebration

With the changes in our environment, people are becoming more concerned about protecting the world. Every day, more and more people are not just being vocal, but being active in saving the environment. Whether in our daily routine or in one major way, the world is now finding ways to decrease and eventually stop the damage to the environment.

Weddings are generally big events with lots of people and they tend to generate lots of waste. Planning a dream wedding with the complete details need not be an excuse to not do your share in protecting the environment. There are many ways on how you can be environmentally responsible during your wedding and still have a wonderful time.

Choose to buy organic products as they are indeed friendlier to the environment than other commercially grown produce. You may have some items in your reception that are organic, or if you will be giving out edible favors, go for the ones that are organically produced. As a bonus, your guests will surely appreciate the additional health benefits of being fed organic food.

Choose products grown through fair trade as this practice makes it possible to ensure respect between growers and sellers. This way, you are able to have a wedding celebration that is able to help people from across the world as well.

Choose recycled materials when packing your favors. If you will use boxes for your favors, opt for the ones that are recyclable and are made of recycled paper. With this, even if the boxes are discarded later, you know you are not adding or contributing to trash. Instead of fancy boxes, consider lighter packaging options, like clear bags tied with ribbon and personalized gift tags.

Also keep in mind that some favors can be presented without packaging. Sometimes tying a simple ribbon around the item will do just fine or you can give them out in a useful container, like a coffee cup.

Choose to give practical gifts or edible favors instead of decorative ones. As decorative favors are likely to be discarded after some time and contribute to trash, choose edible or practical favors that will either be consumed or used. Choose wedding favors that are made of natural materials instead of plastic. Opt for teas, coffee beans, or bookmarks instead.

Do not make your wedding an excuse to not be environmentally responsible. Make it your gift to Mother Nature for all the things she has provided you during your special day. As a couple, it is best if you can learn how to be responsible not just with each other but with the world that your children will one day inherit. Remember that what each of us do with the world today will have a much greater impact in the future. One wedding can make a difference if it is the type of wedding that everyone will want to emulate because of the good things it is able to give not just to the guests, but to the whole world.
