Yet Eminem’s smart and witty lyrics have managed to win the hearts of the Oscar voters.

One of the lyricists and composers who have won the most number of awards in this category include Tim Rice and Alan Bergman. These two remain to be familiar until today, thanks to their timely and contemporary lyrics. Rice’s and Bergman’s lyrics are subtle introspections of life (as in the lyrics of Bergman’s “The Way We Were” for the movie of the same title) while maintaining its freshness and being innovative while working on traditional tools and standards (as in Rice’s “You Must Love Me” from Evita).
