Your wedding songs will play a crucial part of the success of your wedding. On the day itself and in the future where you can get to watch the video of your ceremony and reception, the songs played will either make or break the mood of your wedding. Choosing your wedding songs is not something that most people think about much, but it is still a very important part of wedding planning. Here is some important information that you need to know so your songs will truly be sweet music to everyone’s ear and less stress for you as well.

– Coordinate with your church – For all the music needs during the ceremony, if you are holding it in a church, you can get the list of songs, the CDs or the church choir to sing the songs during the wedding. Do not expect that you can simply pop in on your wedding day and the singer can just sing your song or have the CD played. If you do not coordinate, it may be an unpleasant surprise if the church doesn’t allow those songs and worse if you end up with no music during the ceremony.

– Provide CDs and equipment, if any – If you have a playlist in mind and want to play CDs, make sure that somebody will cue the music during the ceremony and/or reception as of course you will be busy focusing on more important matters. You can hire a disc jockey or have someone else be in charge of the music.

– Check cables and other equipment or assign somebody else to this task – For the ceremony and the reception, have someone check on these items or if you have a band or wedding singer, make sure that they have everything that they need. From the power supply to the stage, have a point person for these items as these should require no further instruction. Have the equipment tested to make sure everything is working.

– Finalize your music choice – Whether CDs, a wedding singer, or a band, make sure that you make this choice long before the wedding day. If you have friends or relatives who can play during your wedding, it’s all the better as you can save money that would otherwise have been spent on your wedding entertainment.

– Feel free to get the input of close friends and family members to see what kind of music they would like to hear at the reception. Instrumental music is usually a safe choice for music as it allows guests to converse easily and is often enjoyed by a wider range of people.

Check also if you have enough music. Especially during the reception, make sure you have enough songs to cover the whole event. When you run out of music during meal time, you might end up with the sound of plates and utensils – making your wedding feel like it’s the school cafeteria. While you can loop your music, just make sure that your guests aren’t forced to listen to the same songs repeatedly during the whole wedding.
