5 Tips For Developing a Power Personality
A power personality isn’t a natural phenomena that only affects a few gifted people. Those who succeed in life learn to develop the traits and skills of a leader. Many rich and famous have ended up in the poorhouse, while others from poverty stricken backgrounds have risen to become household names.
Bill Gates, Tiger Woods. Wayne Gretzky and Abraham Lincoln all share the same traits that made them who they are. They became famous because they practiced their craft, honed their skills until they broke records that no one ever thought possible. But those skills are not exclusive to them alone. If you want to develop a power personality, all you really need to do is apply the same techniques that made them famous.
Take Charge of Your Life
You are the only one that can determine the direction of your life. Too many people believe they are victims of circumstances. They blame the government, their lack of education, their lack of finances as the reasons that hold them back. But poverty, age or education are mere excuses for staying in the comfort zone. Much of such reasoning comes from the limiting beliefs you’ve grown up under. Parents, friends, teachers, though well meaning, have drilled into your mind that you are limited in your skills. Do the best you can with what you have and accept your fate. But those who develop a power personality have no limits.
Set the Right Goals
If you really want something badly, you’ll find a way to get it. Unfortunately, for many, setting goals don’t come easy. Few have a concrete idea of where they want to go in life. They drift with the tide. If they set goals, those goals are not suited for their personality types. You can’t be a slim fashion model of weight has been a great problem throughout your life. Setting goals must be specific to what you want to achieve and not based on what society tells you is what you should be doing. Those who succeeded in life were often rebels and did what society said was impossible.
The Powerful Use of Imagination
Walt Disney was an adult who spent a great part of his life in creating an animated mouse. From that he created a massive entertainment industry that delights young and old alike today. He had a vivid imagination. He saw the outcome well before he created his first animation. All power personalities use imagination and creativity to inspire them to reach for their goals. Every waking moment they see their dreams realized and go through the steps that lead them there.
Power Personalities Associate with Power Personalities
You don’t find successful people associating with gutter hobos and bag ladies. While they may offer help and assistance, they know that they need to associate with other successful people if they are to be a success too. If you’re watching too much violence on televisions or associate with those who gripe and complain about the unfairness of life, you won’t have the incentive to achieve anything. The media projects bad news because bad news sells. So if you spend a great deal of time watching the evening news and reading about the latest killings in the paper, you’re focusing your mind on the negatives. Successful people read the Wall Street Journal and publications related to their fields. They don’t have time to get dragged down by bad news. They read inspiring biographies and listen to motivational CDs. They go to seminars where they can associate with like minded people.
Power Personalities are Successful Because They Help Others.
They are not selfish and hoard their wealth. Many rich and famous, like Bill Gates, are philanthropists. They give away some of their wealth or get involved with charity drives. They don’t do it for the publicity, but from a great need to give back what they so generously received.
Life is difficult enough without trying to live it in a protective shell. Learning to develop a power personality doesn’t make you greedy or selfish. If you develop the same skills, you can be a light to others of what it means to be an exceptional human being. The rewards of wealth and success come as a byproduct of developing a power personality.
