Recreation and sports are best available remedies for a restless environment in a hustle and bustle world. Although recreation and sports share plenty of similarities, they still differ in some important aspects. Recreation may be in the form of sports. However, it does not contemplate of games played seriously and professionally, although there is no rule preventing them from doing so. Moreover, it does embrace all forms of sport from professional to kid and party games. It also includes non-physical and less physical activities such as mind games and a simple picnic or camping, respectively. Simply put, recreation purely involves fun and enjoyment. As much as possible, recreation would not entail an environment akin to work or serious mood because it would defeat the primordial purpose of the activity that is to give time for fun and enjoyment away from work. Sports on the other hand can also be part of recreational activities. From kid, party, to professional games, these are all activities that generate leisure and relaxation. Stated otherwise, serious games of sport does not form part of recreation because its purpose is not primarily and purely for pleasure but rather for work and profession which runs in direct collision with the primary reason for recreation, that is to provide for enough time to perform pleasurable activities outside the work environment.

A good example of recreation and sport activity is golf. This sport is both played professionally and for entertainment purposes only. Professional golf games are played at golf courses or country clubs with strict adherence to rules and procedures of the game. A winner in golf could take home thousands to millions of dollars. Contrarily, golf games for the simple purpose of recreation can either be played at the same courses used in professional golf games, at a miniature golf course, or at portable mini golf courses. The rules and regulations for the said game shall be applied according to the agreement of the players. Since this is just a sports recreational game, prizes are negligible. The important thing in this event is the fun, joy, excitement, leisure, and relaxation on derives from participating in the said recreation and sport activity. In view of the premises, recreation and sports could mean two words with separate definitions but within the same context of leisure or simple a phrase regarding a sport that serves for entertainment. But no matter how one appreciates the said nomenclature, the bottomline is that sports can be a source of recreation while recreation can be had with sports. It is just a matter of fine-tuning on how to go about on each or on both recreation and sports to ensure that it results to the best leisure and entertainment activity.

Verily, fun and exciting activities can be made out of sports and recreations. Whether one is sporty or not does not matter because in these exercises, the person of any disposition will certainly find something to laugh, have fun, enjoy, and relax. Both recreation and sports ensure that the person participating will have entertaining moments of his or her life away from work and who knows, your recreational activity might lead you to your being an authority in the said sport or the sport will expand your horizon and outlook in life whether as a businessman, politician, professional, or an employee.
