Turning My Wife into a Monster Truck Fan Taking my son to watch the monster trucks was stressful time for my wife. My 6 year old son and I had watched a lot of Monster truck races on television but had never been to a Monster Truck Rally together. I had been to plenty of the races but this was the first one for my son. He was extremely excited to go. I was also very excited to watch the monster truck competition. This monster truck event was the only thing that my son and I could talk about in the weeks leading up to the event. My wife hated watching monster trucks on television and she was stressed out because the only thing my son and I could focus on was the upcoming event.

I begged and pleaded with my wife to attend the races at the fairgrounds and she finally agreed to. The morning of the event we all got dressed up and arrived early in the morning to the fairgrounds. The monster truck event was not to be held until that evening but we wanted to spend the day at the fair.

When we arrived the first place we headed to was the monster truck display. There were 8 of the monster trucks parked and we were taking pictures of them and having a good time. One of the mechanics with the Bigfoot monster truck came over and we struck up a conversation with each other. He answered a lot of questions I had. The mechanic offered to let my son sit in the driver’s seat. My wife and I were snapping a lot of pictures as my son was sitting in the driver’s seat of Bigfoot. I had not seen my son smile that big in a long time.

After my son was helped out of the monster truck I asked if it was OK for my wife to get in so I could take her picture to. The mechanic said that was fine and he helped her to get into the monster truck. My wife looked pretty happy sitting in the driver’s seat of the Bigfoot monster truck.

When she got climbed out of the truck and was back on the ground she was immediately filled with a new found curiosity of monster trucks and began asking multiple questions to the mechanic. She was curious as to how they steered the truck, how do they change the tires, how much fuel does a monster truck consume, how do you learn to drive a monster truck. She continued asking questions for an hour or so and the mechanic was very friendly and answered all of them.

We finally left the monster truck display and headed over to get some food to eat. After we got our food and sat down my wife surprised me when she said “I can’t wait for tonight”. Wow, my wife was now as excited as my son and I were to watch the monster trucks.

As evening approached we found our seats at the fairgrounds and sat down. When the first monster truck fired up its’ engine my wife stood up, shook her fist in the air, and shouted “OH Yeah!” As the night wore on my wife was one of the loudest fans in the stands. I was so proud of her.

Ever since that day at the fairgrounds my wife now watches monster truck event son television with my son and me. It is now a family event for us to watch together. My wife is as excited as me and my son are for the monster trucks to return again next year.
