Types of Waterproof Speakers to Choose From

By waterproof, this means that something does not get easily damaged even if it is already wet or submerged in water. However, the sustainability of that waterproof thing will depend on the depth of the water and the duration by which the thing is submerged in water. A waterproof speaker works this way. Such a speaker is preferred by people who love to hear music but spend lots of hours listening to music outdoors. Boaters, for instance, love waterproof speakers to make sure that speakers do not easily break down even after getting wet in the sea. These are part of waterproof marine audio systems that are ideal for use in boats or in poolside parties. It would be good to listen to music even if you are out in the sea.

There are different types of waterproof speakers though from which buyers should choose from. These are dual cone, coaxial, component speakers, and sub-woofers.

Dual cone speakers only use a single audio source but have dual cones in small and large sizes. The small cone in the speakers is for high frequencies while the large cones are used for the mid-range to low sound frequencies. These dual cone speakers could be the cheapest among all four types of waterproof audio speakers. However, even if they still have a good sound output, they have a limited range of frequencies. This type of speaker is primarily chosen for its affordability.

Coaxial speakers are actually two- and three-way speakers. Unlike the dual cone speakers, this one has more than one audio source and hence, can handle different frequencies. The coaxial bit in its name refers to the fact that one speaker is wrapped around with the other speaker. High frequency is handled by the tweeter that can be found in the middle of the speaker. On the other hand, mid-range and low frequencies are handled by the woofer that surrounds the tweeter in the speaker. Coaxial speakers are better sound projector than dual cone speakers but these cannot surpass the performance of the component speakers.

Component speakers are also waterproof audio speakers that use more than one speaker. There are multiple speakers to handle high and low frequencies separately. One speaker handles low frequencies while the other one handles high frequencies. These two types of frequencies are successfully divided through electronic methods. Due to this kind of mechanism in these component speakers, they can produce great sound, the best one compared to the kind of sound projection from dual cone and coaxial speakers.

Sub-woofers are mostly useful in setting bass frequencies. They are ideal for use in projecting thunder-like sounds. These sounds can be produced by coaxial and component speakers but you can still decide to invest in sub-woofers based on your personal judgment.

An important pointer though when it comes to buying waterproof audio speakers is the size of the area where the new speakers will be placed. Large speakers would project better sound than the smaller speakers. But this also means that you should have a large area to accommodate the speakers.
