Folding doors are doors that are made up of multiple panels that can be folded in order to give them the folding mechanism. By being folded, these doors can be removed as dividers and be kept to one side in a room. There are bi folding doors that only have two doors that can be opened and closed conveniently to hide a space or open a wider one.
Like many other things, these bi folding doors can also malfunction or perform poorly as they are used over time. One of the typical reasons as to why you need to repair these bi folding doors is when they can be hardly opened or closed. However, this does not necessarily mean that you already need to throw these doors as junk because you can easily repair your doors even if you will dare to do it all on your own. When you have difficulty closing or opening the doors, this could be due to a minor problem with the hinges. These bi folding doors actually have hinges on the side of the bi folding doors, a spring-mounted pin at the top of the door’s sliding bracket, and a pin the corner of the door’s bottom.

One of the usual problems in bi folding doors is when the door gets out of its track due to the loosening or complete movement of the pivots outside of the tracks. This is not a matter of just getting the doors back on the track. If you do not want to spend more money on buying just about another car which you crashed, you should know exactly how to repair these bi folding doors.

1. Get the door, open it, and try to put the upper guide roller of the door back into the track. But this is not just about it.

2. Look at the pivot pin in the bottom corner. To make sure that the pin will still work, you need to have it attached to the floor bracket. The attachment should be done in a way that will allow about 1/16-inch clearance for the pin from the jamb found in the bottom corner of the door. You can make all these adjustments if you will just lift the door upward.

3. After adjusting the pivot pin at the bottom, check and adjust the top pivot pin. The usual problem here is when the sliding bracket has strayed from the track. Again, take a 1 1/16-inch allowance from the jamb. Again, bring the pivot pin back to its right position in the track.

4. Change the hinge on the side of the door by adjusting the bottom pin.

Another problem in bi folding doors is the wobbly and loose workings of the doors. This is likely to happen when the pivot pin is no longer functional and it thus loos from its normal position. This problem can be addressed using the following steps.

1. Lift the door to get the pivot pin out.
2. Get the pin out of its usual hole.
3. Make the hole for the pin grow bigger to accommodate a wooden dowel plug.
4. Put the dowel plug into the hole and use glue to attach the plug to it.
5. Take the dowel out and flush it with the door.
6. Bore another hole for the pin then.
