There are not many rules that you have to follow when organizing a baby shower. The only one that you do need to pay attention to, is that it needs to a happy and fun time for everyone, especially the guest of honor. As the purpose of this day is to celebrate the arrival of a baby. You can make the day as creative or as silly or as traditional as you would like it to be.
What You Should Know
Organizing a baby shower, needs to be planned well in advanced, and you need to give yourself time to do so. The actual shower needs to be held between the seventh or eight month of a pregnancy. Once you have set a date, you can start to organize the rest of the details.
Before you can do anything, you need to know if all the attendees will just be all women. This is the traditional way of organizing a baby shower, as it is meant for the expecting mother. But, a new popular trend is seeing both the expecting parents at the baby shower.
The Preparation
Know, where you plan to have the party, and also what time of day you would like it to be held. The place and time of day, needs to work with the guest of honor, and make sure where it is, is convenient for them. Know, how many guest you plan to invite before picking the place and day, and ensure that the place can cater for all the guest you plan to invite.
Would you like this event, to be kept a secret from the guest of honor? If so, know if the guest of honor would liked to be surprised otherwise it wont work. You can always ask them before hand, just so you know if it can go ahead, or ask someone who will know for sure.
Pick the themes for the shower, themes can be a color theme, or to do with bottles or balloons or even teddy bears. Once your theme is picked, you can pick your presents to go accordingly. You can always suggest that there need to be more than one present given from each person, and don’t be afraid to ask.
Start on your guest list. If this shower is not a surprise one, ask the expecting parents the people they would like to invite. If it is a surprise ask a close relative or friend, to ensure that everyone is invited. These invitations needs, to be done a few weeks before the actual day, put down all the information you think is needed on the invite. You can also create the invitations to match the theme of the event as well. On the invitations ensure, the color theme is on there and what the babies room color is. Before you begin, know if the expecting parents will have a registry, and if they do place this in the envelope. When all this is done send out the invitations.
In the room, create a centerpiece and create it around to your theme. Place a few baby clothes or candles around this centerpiece and make sure it suits the theme of the shower. When their is a centerpiece in the room it is really makes a statement on what the party is about.
Organize the food and drinks for the party. You can either hire a caterer or you can do it yourself. Ensure that the standards are there, like the cutlery, and the crockery. When you organize the food, do so with the games as well, and ensure gifts a brought for those who are the winners. When the guest of honor opens their gifts, write down who they are coming from, so they know who to send thank you notes to.
