Flirting by Text

The first thing to realize if you want to learn how to flirt when texting is that communicating this way is a whole different ball game than flirting in person. When you flirt in person, there is room for all kinds of subtleties, such as communicating by body language and conveying meaning with tone and volume levels.

For instance, when I was in college I did an oral presentation on the word “Dude” and how, depending on how you said the word it could convey a variety of emotions. You could say it in one way and it could express sympathy, remorse, excitement, or any other emotion, just based on your tone and how you said the word.

This example of how important tone is should be kept in mind when you begin to flirt by text. Remember that something said in person might come across completely different if you text those exact same words.
However, with that said, there are a few other basic rules to remember when you are trying to flirt with texting. Here are the top ones, including what I just shared with you:

1. Remember that it is difficult to convey tone in a text and phrase your words accordingly.

2. Keep it short and sweet. Nobody wants to read a long drawn out text. In this fast-paced world, we don’t have patience or time for it.

3. Make it interesting. If you don’t have something interesting to say, then put down your phone. Nobody wants to hear about your boring day. If you are creative and can put an interesting spin on a boring situation, then by all means share it. Otherwise, think of something interesting to say or say nothing at all.

4. Learn what women want to read in a flirtatious text. That is pretty easy to remember. The first thing women want to read when they get a text from you is the following and usually in this order: that you are thinking about them, that you think they are hot, that you like them.

So based on these rules, here is what works for a flirtatious text. If you want to talk about your day, make it sound like you have a thrilling life (even if you don’t). Therefore, you might send her something like, “It’s Miller time and the crowd is going wild.” (Nobody said it has to make sense.)

Or you could say something like this: “U looked hot tonight” or “Can’t stop thinking about your body in that dress.” Obviously the second example is a bit more risque, so you’ll have to be sure that you have that type of relationship and are comfortable with saying that to her in person before you send it in text.

I also like this as a very basic, safe and simple but effective text: “I like you.” It is not saying she’s the best thing since sliced bread, it is just simply saying you like her and what’s wrong with that?
