How do the Fans Feel About Brock and Junior as the Next Ultimate Fighter Coaches?

Over the past few weeks UFC fans have been going back and fourth with the coaching rumors as to who will actually be the chosen two for this upcoming season of the Spike television series, The Ultimate Fighter. The gossip began with Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva or Shogun Rua as possible coaches. With Silva\’s lack of interest in speaking English, that probably would\’ve been less than eventful to watch week after week. Although Chael\’s constant trash talk potentially could have brought in the largest viewing audience the show has ever received. Whether people love or hate Sonnen, he still gets ratings as you simply never know what will come out of his mouth next. Once those rumors banished, with Chael\’s less than stellar good graces as a stand up member of society and resulting in a suspension that has forced Dana White to keep on searching for coaches.

Next up was the rumors that it would be Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard as team coaches. This may not have had the same rating potential as having Chael and his antics on the show, but after their last fight millions of new Edgar and Maynard fans have evolved. This still didn\’t quite add up though as these two guys are under medical suspensions from their UFC 125 brutal beat down. Frankie is on one until July 1st and Gray is through February, making is almost impossible for these two to be coaches for the show.

Finally, it as been noted that they have chosen Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos. This coaching selection has brought on some rather angry UFC fans. The most obvious reason many are frustrated is because of choosing Brock as a coach. Has he made the transition to the UFC a rather smooth one from the world of wrestling? Certainly. However, he has such an on again off again fan base and some are pondering does he truly bode the credentials to be an effective coach breeding young fighters? Brock has been active in the UFC since 2007, with two losses on his record- one to Frank Mir and the other to Cain Velasquez. Junior came into the UFC in 2008, and has one loss on his 12-1 record. The 26 year old Brazilian is a very tough competitor and will definitely have enough skills to mold new fighters, but will he be exciting to watch coaching alongside Brock for a few weeks?

Guess time will tell if this will be a worthy season to watch every week, but one would imagine just having Lesnar on it will pull enough fans from his past WWE life to keep the show afloat. The Brock haters will tune in as well to see if he fails epically as a coach and to see just how Junior handles his demeanor. Certainly Lesnar bodes some abilities as a coach from his years as wrestler in his academic career and he even tried his hand at football as well. The show will feature welterweights and will begin with the first episode airing on March 30th, 2011. The finale will be in Las Vegas on June 4th between Brock and Junior at the Palms Casino and Resort.
