Nopalea And Detoxifying
Detox with Nopalea
Every once in a while our bodies need to be completely detoxified. I’m not into the Scientologist belief that you need to spend thousands of dollars and a week of your life in a sauna to detoxify. I think you can do a good job detoxifying your body at home. It is all about what you put into your body.
If you are going to embark on a detoxification routine at home, the first day, you might want to consider fasting. Of course, you should check with you physician first before you do anything of the sort and before you even consider doing an at-home detoxify.
However, once you get the okay from your doctor, and then spend the first day ingesting only fluids: broth, water and juices, including Nopalea Juice.
Nopalea Juice (made from the Opuntia and Prickly Pear cactus) is famous for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Scientists now believe that inflammation might be the root cause of a host of diseases and chronic discomforts. It is also believed that Nopalea juice is chock full of antioxidants. In addition, it contains a special pigment — really a property called betalains, which has many of the B vitamins and minerals.
After the first day you try Nopalea for the first time, be sure to eat two small meals a day for the following six days. For that third meal of the day, feel free to replace it with a glass of Nopalea Juice. You will find it filling, refreshing and a cure to a sweet tooth you might have that tempts you to eat more. Nopalea will help fill you up, build up your immune system, help premature aging and help with a variety of diseases and ailments.
It is believed that Aztecs hundreds of years ago, might have been the first to enjoy the health benefits of the Nopal cactus, eating it as a food and using it as a medicine. When the Spaniards came to America, they also ate the plant and used it as a medicine. They grew to appreciate the plant and even brought the plant back home for harvest and planting. When they planted it, it began the plant’s spread throughout the world.
The Prickly Pear Cactus is now a recognized food and medicine around the world. People not only ingest the pads of the cactus, which are also edible, but they also munch on the colorful fruit or blossoms, which are often yellow, red or purple. The blossoms are called Nopalitos. These blossoms are cut off, harvested and then turned into Nopalea Juice. Drinking the juice is the quickest and easy way for people to obtain the numerous medicinal benefits that come by ingesting the plant. While some markets do sell the pads as food, they often involve peeling and cooking to obtain the benefits. The juice is delicious and full of other fruits that benefit the body. It is also all natural. Really, its an easy way to take advantage of the plant’s health properties.
Dr. Oz. — on one of his shows — talked about the Nopal Cactus as a natural wonder. He has shared information about its benefits to cure hangovers. He has also talked about how scientists are researching how the plant may be a method to help with the symptoms of diabetes by reducing blood sugar levels.
Scientists are now busy working on researching how the prickly pear cactus with its special antioxidant properties also works to reduce chronic inflammation. At least a decade ago, researchers began making the connection between chronic inflammation and a host of other serious, even fatal diseases and ailments. They saw that chronic inflammation can be linked to everything from hangovers to ezcema to Alzhekimer\’s to cancer and diabetes.
With the ability to reduce chronic inflammation, the Nopal cactus may be a wonder drug that is actually able to reduce the incidence of all of these major diseases. Just one little plant.
