2010 Sets New Records

EDMOND – The Philadelphia Church of God closed out another record-setting year December 31, 2010. The Work grew in several areas, most notably in the use of the Internet as a tool to proclaim the gospel and deliver a trumpet-blowing warning to the nations.

Page loads on theTrumpet[dot]com soared to over 9.1 million in 2010, a 14 percent increase over 2009. Much of the increase can be attributed to the new features added last year, including the Trumpet Forum videos, the Trumpet Blog and Twitter updates.

With over 2.9 million visitors to the site, the number of returning visitors grew 8 percent over last year, setting a new record of 1.3 million. New visitors to the site fell by 5 percent over 2009, but the PCG conducted no internet advertising in 2010 as funds were devoted to finishing Armstrong Auditorium. The Trumpet hopes to begin another internet advertising campaign in 2011.

According to Trumpet executive editor Stephen Flurry, \”Besides the numbers, which have been good, we have been greatly encouraged by the positive feedback we have been getting – particularly about the new features we have added over the past year.\”

He added, \”Also, with new videos being added at least four days a week and with daily Twitter feeds, the website is continually refreshed with new content.\”

Some of the most popular stories on theTrumpet[dot]com in 2010 were \”Germany Reaffirms Sunday Law,\” \”The Return of the Mahdi Is Nigh,\” \”The Holy Roman Empire Is Back!,\” and \”How Russia Is About to Dramatically Change the World.\”

Another record was set in 2010 as the number of literature requests increased by 4 percent, setting an all time record of 466,740 requests. These requests included 668 different titles in 10 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Afrikaans, Portuguese, Dutch, Norwegian and Finnish.

The most popular title requested for the sixth year running was Mystery of the Ages with over 13.5 thousand copies mailed in 2010. The other most requested titles in the top five included He Was Right!, United States and Britain in Prophecy, the AC Bible Correspondence Course and Germany and the Holy Roman Empire.

While total telephone calls received were down slightly by 2 percent, calls in response to the Key of David program rose by 1 percent over last year.

Trumpet circulation continued to climb as the waiting room program grew over the last half of 2010. Circulation for the Nov/Dec issue was 295,382 – a 14 percent increase over the same issue last year.

Worldwide distribution of the Trumpet was centered in the United States, which accounts for 87.4 percent of total distribution. Outside of the U.S., Canada took the top spot at 6.48 percent, followed by Australia at 2.51 percent, UK/Europe/Africa at 2 percent and the Philippines and Latin America at .82 percent and .78 percent respectively.

The upward trend looks to continue as the first week of January 2011 was the busiest week of traffic ever at theTrumpet[dot]com at more than 239,000 page loads, which far exceeded the previous record of one month ago – about 204,000 views.
