Exercise by definition is any activity that is done or performed in order to practice, train or get used to that certain activity. When one hears this word though, many people often commonly think of physical exercise. Indeed this is all we’re mostly familiar with because it deals a lot with our health. But there are many other reasons why physical exercise is done.

Physical exercise is done by anyone, and the reasons can vary upon the purpose. Athletes for instance exercise to strengthen muscles, increase cardiovascular movement, improve breathing, increase flexibility and many more. Most people though-even those who are not necessarily athletes-exercise for one thing. This is the most common reason for why people exercise: to lose weight.

Indeed losing weight has been the prime reason for people doing exercise. The ‘exercise’ industry has been reaping heaps with gyms being built every now and then, in various locations, with exercise videos being sold or watched over the internet and with personal trainers or aerobic teachers being hired to even go to one’s home to train or exercise the people.

This may be the top choice for people, but whether or not one’s goal is to lose weight, physicians, doctors and people in the physical health expertise still recommend exercise for one prime and obvious reason: it improves our physical health.

This is because physical exercise involves a lot of movement. In these movements, muscles contract and expand. The heart pumps blood faster throughout the veins, improving blood circulation and increasing stamina and endurance. This is the general physical effect, but the more beneficial implications of these are innumerable. There have even been studies that show how blood type relates to the kind of exercise one should opt for and the kind of diet. For instance, people with the blood type O are reported to have more effective weight loss when doing more strenuous exercises.

Whatever the purpose for exercise though, the common recommendation is usually to exercise 3 times a week. For the intensity though, it is best to consult with your physician. People with physical disabilities or ones are under some physical incapability may undergo a special physical treatment. Indeed exercise is essential to daily human living.
