How to Find Experts to Kill Off Destructive Termites and Other Pests

There are creatures that live in the wild that have nothing more on their minds than eating through wood as fast as possible. These creatures are looking for the cellulose in the wood to sustain themselves and the rest of the colony. But when they get into homes, not only do they have a ready food source they also weaken the structures that keep us and our families safe. When this happens, it is imperative that we get hold of experts who can come in and rid the home of just about anything which destroys the fabric of the building. Try looking for ‘pest control’ or ‘termite treatment’ to see which experts are available in the local area.

These creatures are very clever for sure. Not only does the colony have scouts which go out in search of the food, it also lays scent trails for the rest to follow once the food source has been established. This means that the whole workforce will end up in the home eventually. These creatures eat so much that they can literally destroy any wood in their path. Of course, they do not differentiate between old wood and that wood which has great intrinsic value, like priceless antiques which may have been in the family for many generations.

The experts have several tricks up their proverbial sleeves and these are used to suit the location where the creatures have been spotted. Householders should look out for sawdust types of materials around the base of furniture or structures, plus hollow sounding wooden beams which have been eaten from the inside out. The creatures burrow into the wood, where they cannot be disturbed, and eat their way right up to the paint on the wood. This is how they stay undetected for so long.

Brown earth tube like structures can also be seen across immoveable and inedible stretches of walls and the like too and this is how they get from one food source to another. Scraping some of these away should give some indication of whether the colony is passing this way. If the tubes are rebuilt quite quickly then there is a serious infestation going on.

The usual way of getting rid of these little eating machines is to dig a deep trench all round the building where the infestation is going on. Into this gets poured gallons of toxic chemicals to form a barrier so that they will not cross it. However, these chemicals to break down after a while, and one should question if this is doing the earth much good, so infestation can take place again.

More modern methods include sinking feeding tubes into the ground so that the feeding patterns can be monitored. The poison bait is eventually taken back to the nest and the queen will obviously die. Once she is dead, the whole colony will be finished for good.

Although these methods differ quite a bit, each has its merits depending on the situation. It is up to the individual which method they would prefer.
