Johnny Depp\’s Latest Roles To Include Pancho Villa And Barnabus Collins, Costaring With Pfeiffer And Bonham Carter

Johnny Depp will have to learn Spanish for his latest role in the upcoming movie Wild Roses, Tender Roses about famous Mexican revolutionary Francisco \”Pancho\” Villa, according to recent reports. Depp will be starring in the title role as Pancho Villa alongside co-star Salma Hayek, who is Mexican and presumably already fluent in Spanish–maybe she can give him a few lessons!

The film is being directed by Emir Kusturica, a Serbian director who will also have to learn Spanish along with Depp, and who is best known for his 1995 film Underground about the history of Yugoslavia since the end of World War II.

The film is scheduled to begin filming sometime early in 2011 and set to be released a year after that in 2012, and is based on James Carlos Blake\’s 1996 novel The Friends of Pancho Villa.

Villa is a national hero in Mexico where he\’s best known as a Robin Hood of sorts because he frequently gave what he stole to poor peasants, primarily land re-taken from wealthy landowners who had stolen it in the first place.
