Paul GarmirianSoiree blend was introduced in July of 2008 with the help of his son Kevork. Paul Garmirian Soiree is the result of Paul’s quest for “new blends reminiscent of the great Cuban cigars PG enjoyed in the 1950’s and early 1960’s”. This is a brand that certainly enjoys the reputation of substance over style. Paul Garmirian cigars seem to have avoided the pressure of today’s manufacturers to constantly come out with something new, and has chosen instead, to limit his productions to quiet offerings packed with class and quality. A full bodied after dinner cigar with an exquisite aroma and smooth finish, the Soiree is rich and tantalizing, and the perfect way to complete a relaxing evening.

Paul Garmirian Soiree is offered in four sizes: Belicoso (6.1/4 x 52), Connoisseur (6 x 50), Robusto (5×50), and Short Robusto( 4 x 50), each having a bold, yet extremely smooth flavor. The red and somewhat toothy wrapper has course veins and prominent seams, yet the quality is very apparent. Its double gold band with red and white lettering is devoid of all the bells and whistles that other brands may sport. Yet what it lacks in appearance, it definitely makes up for in taste. The richly flavored dark, Colorado shade Connecticut wrapper is a favorite of many connoisseurs.

When it comes to taste, the Paul Garmirian Soiree is a near carbon copy of his 15th Anniversary blend according to Paul Garmirian, only with a touch less piloto Cubano in the filler blend. For the new smoker, it represents a kaleidoscope range of tastes. Whereas the seasoned smoker will detect old style Cuban Puros from the mid 1950’s, definitely a treat!

The Soiree’s prelight draw is packed with mouth watering notes of cedar. The predominant flavors are of dry wood, toasty tobacco, and soft pepper. The dry flavor fades after a half inch or so with a bit of a white wine character. A nice accompaniment of creamy caramel, earth, and floral notes gives this smoke a nice complex profile. PG describes the Soiree as a “full-bodied after dinner cigar with an exquisite aroma and smooth finish”. This cigar has big flavor, yet maintains its subtlety and smoothness, making it an excellent choice for an evening, as well as an afternoon smoke.

Any traditionalist will admire Paul Garmirian’s approach to cigar making and manufacturing. He has earned an international reputation by word of mouth for his quietly balanced strength and presentation, as well as the deliciously smooth flavors and aromas that are synonymous to the PG brand. PG cigars have the integrity and consistency that you would expect from any great cigar manufacturer. Other PG offerings include: Symphony 20 – Limited Edition, Gourmet Series, Gourmet Series 15th Anniversary, Gourmet Series II, PG Family Reserve, Paul Garmirian Maduro, Paul Garmirian Reserva Exclusiva, and Artisan’s Selection by Paul Garmirian. Every PG smoke will leave you with the feeling of Old Havana. These are must-have cigars that will appeal to nearly every well-formed palate. They are also a wonderful introduction to cigar-smoking that is as close as today’s new aficionado can come.
