Simple models tend to be about 12X24 feet, with a 10-11 foot height, depending on the door type. The general rule of thumb is you should go no smaller than this. A depth of 24 geet and a width of 12 is the lowest recommended size if you are considering storing a car inside. For trucks, SUVs and other vehicles, you will want to take in consideration the size of your vehicle before settling on a final plan.

Generally, these smaller structures like shed garages can be built from readily available materials and the plans can be purchased for much less than the pre-made models if you are unable to develop plans of your own. However, there are many things to keep in mind when purchasing a shed garage plan, such as local laws and policies, the cost of materials, and the time you will spend building. Many building departments will tell you what you can and cannot build in your area, and it is better to ask for direction and permission before you begin, than spend all of that time re-planning your shed garage, or tearing down what you have already started to build, or worse yet, finished.
