Amazing New Research Reveals Great News About Exercise
Exercise, to many, it is the bane of our existence. The moment the doctor tells us that we have to start exercising or we are going to face some serious problems, many of us cringe inside. We want to go running from his office waving our hands in the air, but that would be too much like exercise so we sit there and wonder how we could possibly get out of it and still avoid hiring someone with a CPR Certification to follow us around. Fortunately, there is no need.
Many of us think of exercise as excruciating hours out of our lives filed with sweat, turmoil, and pain but that may not be the case anymore. New research from the American Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, and the journal Psychopharmacology now indicate that it is highly likely that short bursts of exercise, as in six to ten minutes, five times a day, could lead to a healthier, leaner you. In fact, this kind of exercise regimen is perfect for people who meet certain criteria, like…
– The Elderly sedentary crowd
– People with heart trouble
– People who have no time to exercise
– The physically disabled
Many of us already do this and do not realize it, we just do not do it right, or often enough. For instance, after a big meal, which we should probably avoid in the first place, most of us will sit around for an hour or so and then take a short stroll to walk off that bloated feeling. We are doing the right thing at the wrong time. Research shows that you will reduce fat and triglyceride levels faster if we take that stroll immediately after our meal. A nice, ten-minute walk does wonders for clearing the blood stream if we do it while these killers are still in our blood stream and waiting for an hour means that they have made their way to the places in our bodies where they can hurt us the most.
Short bursts of exercise several times a day is starting to look good to doctors who have patients that either can\’t sustain a workout or do not have time for an hour long trip to the gym. It does not have to be strenuous weight lifting, although that is healthy too. A brisk walk, a couple of times up and down the basement stairs, or some mild calisthenics is enough to do the job. To make things more convenient, most of these can be done while we are doing other things, like that five to ten minute wait in the grocery line, or in a waiting room when there is nothing to do but read the same magazine you read during your last dental check-up. Even sitting in traffic presents an opportunity.
To kill two birds with one stone, short bursts of exercise stops cigarette cravings in their tracks. If you are trying to quit smoking, exercising for a few minutes will help. When you think about it in these terms, there really is no reason to put off getting back in shape with several bouts of mild exercise a day. You do not need someone with a CPR certification for that.
