Can One Receive Benefits From a Permanent Recruitment Agency
Whether or not such an agency offers benefits often depends on whether such agency is an independent permanent recruitment agency, or a member of a larger staffing corporation which offers both permanent and temporary employment. As such, while one may be able to obtain benefits through such a service, one needs to ask whether or not such is available during the initial interview.
Whereas, if one is acquiring a permanent job through a variety of employment agencies, one most often is going to receive such benefits through the hiring employer rather than the agency. For example, if one interviews with an agency, then goes to interview at a business, the business is most often the one whom will provide such benefits. Whereas, if one is acquiring a temporary job through such an agency, then it often depends on the agency itself as to whether any benefits may be offered.
However, there are also some instances, though rare, where a temporary can receive benefits from both an agency and the employer. Although, such is often frowned upon heavily by many temporary agencies in the business. Say for example, a business one is working at during a holiday period closes down for more than week yet provides full pay for both permanent and temporary employees, often such temporaries use the opportunity to pick up extra week the business is closed.
Of course, anyone working as a temporary employee in such an environment may also have had to sign a non-competition agreement. If so, most often such individuals are restricted from working any additional or similar jobs, especially if such jobs are similar or provided through the same service. For, quite often an individual who takes extra temporary work during such periods can also decide to switch jobs, which then leaves the original business without support.
In addition, doing so in the past has often caused employers to withdraw such benefits from future temporaries. As such, when one goes against such a contract or rules of a firm, one can not only cost oneself a job or paid time off in the future, one can also ruin such benefits for future temporaries. So, while it may be tempting to take another temporary assignment to receive double-pay for the week or few weeks when the originating employer is closed, one may want to be cautious doing so.
Still, there are a great number of benefits to obtaining a job through permanent recruitment agencies or temp agencies. In addition, such agencies often provide the HR consulting for the hiring business. As such, a number of jobs can often be obtained through such agencies without having to interview at a specific job site.
For example, of one is working through a temp agency, one can often accept or decline job opportunities as presented without penalty. Although, while most such agencies claim this is the case, if one rejects a number of jobs, one may often be last on a future call list. So, one may want to be cautious about which jobs to both accept or decline over time.
Last but not least, a number of temp agencies often provide temp-perm type opportunities. Although, one must often complete a full range of testing in order to acquire such positions. In addition, the hiring business must often pay the permanent or temporary agency providing such individual a large amount of money for such employees.
To this end, while such positions are few and far between, one can often find a permanent job through either a permanent recruitment agency or temp service. However, if one is applying for a full time job, one may want to avoid paying a fee for any such service. For, most often such full time jobs can be acquired through an ad in the newspaper, an employment agency which is paid by the employer, or through a temp to permanent opportunity through a local temporary service.
