Grand Canyon Bus From Las Vegas

Going to Las Vegas and thinking about adding a day trip to the Grand Canyon\’s South Rim?

Wise decision. Between the South Rim and the West Rim, it\’s the former is famous for it\’s incredible great beauty.

What\’s the best way to get there if you are with limited funds? Take a deluxe bus tour from Vegas.

Prices during the time this article was written ranged from $80 to $160. Book online – the very best deals are on the Internet. The link at the bottom of this article will take you to a page where I go more in-depth on pricing.

Forget your old impressions of buses. These are new and ultra-modern. They are state-of-the-art vehicles, and they come pre-loaded with the following:

1. Bathroom

2. VCR\’s

3. Deluxe, reclining seats

4. Lots of leg room

5. Removable arm rests

6. Personalized A/C stations

7. Giant viewing windows

Most bus tours, which hit the road around 7 a.m., include free hotel pick up and drop off, as well as a complimentary box lunch (we\’ve tried them all and they\’re quite tasty).

The drive to the South Rim includes such sights as Lake Mead, historic Hoover Dam (there will be a brief stop for photos), the Colorado River, and Black Canyon, exclusive habitat or big horn sheep.

The scenery changes significantly when you turn up at the gates of Grand Canyon National Park. It\’s situated on the Kaibab Plateau, home to the largest stand of Ponderosa Pine on the planet.

Your adventure begins at Bright Angel Lodge, the main structure in historic Grand Canyon village. Built in the 1930\’s, the Lodge is the anchor for a number of excellent restaurants, museums, more accommodations, and the amazingly resilient Bucky O\’Neil Cabin, which owns the distinction of being the oldest building on the South Rim.

It\’s also here at the Lodge that you can board one of the many free shuttles and see such key viewpoints as Mather Point, Yavapai Point, Yaki, and more. Typically, you will have three hours to enjoy the South Rim and The Village.

Here are some things to consider as you enjoy this incredible natural wonder:

1. The Canyon was made by the Colorado River over a 5.4 million-year period.

2. The widest point in the canyon is 18 miles. It is 277 miles long. It\’s one mile deep.

3. At 8,200 feet (2,500 m) above sea level, the North Rim is 1,200 feet (350 m) higher than the South Rim.

4. The canyon was given national park status in 1919.

5. More than 5 million people visit the National Park each year.

6. It\’s populated by five Indian tribes.

Going back to Vegas, you\’ll most likely make a stop at the town of Kingman, AZ. It\’s most well-known for the piece of Route 66 that runs through it. Otherwise, it\’s a good spot to get off the bus, stretch your legs, grab a snack, or have a smoke. You\’ll then head back over Hoover Dam, skirt by Boulder City, and then drop down into the Vegas valley.

Total trip time from pick up to drop off is approximately 14 hours.

If you\’ve ever thought about experiencing the Grand Canyon\’s South Rim, then definitely consider booking a bus tour with one of Vegas\’ excellent bus tour operators. Trips run every day, all week, including holidays. The price is more than affordable, but it gets even better if you book your tour via the Internet. Now there\’s no excuse to leave this Seventh Wonder of the World on your \”bucket list\” anymore.
