Great Layout Ideas For Your Restaurant
The layout of the restaurant is one of the most important aspects of this industry. This will determine the atmosphere and your restaurant’s character. The challenge is even greater if you are just a beginning restaurateur and you are working from scratch.
So, to guide you with what you can do with your restaurant, here are a few layout ideas.
Determine the size. You will be taking into account the size of your restaurant. This is where all of your plans will begin with. Make sure that you have enough space for all of the things that you are planning to make.
If the area is too big, use bigger furniture that will occupy as much space as they can. If the area is too small for what you have planned, less bulky furniture will be your solution. You can also add mirrors that will give the illusion that the area is larger than it really is.
Arrangement. Once you already have the furniture that you want to use, plus you also have an idea of what your space would look like when it is finalized, you can now plan the arrangements of these furniture.
When you are beginning from the building plans itself, you have more liberty to choose where you want to place the kitchen, where the dining areas should be, etc. But if you already have a space that you are going to work with, design the layout in a way that you are prioritizing functionality and traffic in your institution.
This principle will not only apply to the dining area but to the kitchen, in your cashier’s corner, or other parts of your restaurant that you might want to have.
Think customer comfort. Even if you know you lack space and you can benefit financially from a few more tables, do not push the issue when it will compromise your customer’s comfort. Any customer would not want to sit near the kitchen where the staff would be very busy. None would also want to be located near the comfort room. So, the best that you can do is to avoid placing tables near those areas.
Also make sure that you have just the right temperature in your place. When it is cold outside, customers would want to be warm and comfy inside. And when you are in the summer months, make sure that you have your air conditioning system working when it gets too hot to be considered comfortable.
Lighting is crucial. This aspect can make or break the atmosphere. You can control lighting to be able to set the mood that you want to have. Some use natural light at daytime then only turn on their lamps when it gets dark.
Don’t overdo it. When you have thought of a theme for your restaurant, stick to that. Most customers come there to eat. But, another indicator that can affect their decision to come there at that certain restaurant, aside from the food is the ambiance.
So, invest time and effort in thinking about what design would be good for your theme. Would there be a need for you to use accessories? Do you need personalized and unique items?
