Monitor Employee’s Activity
There could be countless reasons why you would want to monitor employee’s activity. It might be something as simple as making sure they were actually doing what you pay them for instead of surfing on the web, or it could be that you want to make sure they are not giving away company secrets. It might also be something a little more complicated like monitoring so that you have back up proof that certain things were done. For instance, this could come in handy when considering stocks or banking. It might also be valuable in a lawyer’s office to make sure that all of the paperwork was done and submitted when it was supposed to be. In banking it could provide you with proof if someone is embezzling funds too. Just a possibility to think about.
Doctor’s offices might want to monitor employee’s activity to ensure that there is no breach of confidentiality in the office. This could be true for all sorts of doctor’s, but especially doctors that deal with controversial topics (like abortion) and those that deal with mental health issues as well. Both of those topics are largely used against someone whenever people are trying to prove something bad about them, and you would not want someone in your office to feed them the information. You might not want to think that this could happen, but somehow it always does especially when its high-profile.
Computer companies might want to monitor employee’s activity too. Not only do you not want them to give away valuable information, but it might allow you to go back and find a mistake if they accidentally messed something up. Yes it might take a bit of time to actually accomplish that, but it could end up saving you quite a bit of money since it will provide an easy fix in most situations.
Internet-based companies are another that might want to monitor employee activity. Since everything is handled with the computers you are going to want some way to prove that they employees are doing what they are suppose to be doing; especially if you are getting a lot of complaints from customers. It might also allow you to keep close track of your customer service department and know what bugs keep popping up and how the customer satisfaction really is based on what they are saying.
I understand that it would be virtually impossible to list all of the reasons why you might want to monitor employee’s activity. There are thousands of different businesses out there, and with that come thousands of different reasons as well. The bottom line is that it really does not matter what type of business you have; you might want to consider something to keep track of what your people are doing in the company. Either way, it cannot hurt to check into it and bit more and gather some more information before saying that you don’t need it.
