Pesky Pests Need Some Careful Consideration to Eradicate
With the penchant that people have these days for going back to natural ingredients for just about everything, it would only seem logical that the majority of the house would be made up from wood. Of course, this looks wonderful for sure but there is a need to get a good pest control service if this is the case. The wood can be eaten away over the years so it is important to use something like Terminix or something better to keep them at by since eradicating them completely is next to impossible.
There are many ways to keep unwanted creatures out of the home and all have their own pros and cons. For those used to the tried and tested trench digging, this may be just the right treatment. This involved digging a deep trench, in one complete circle, around the building which was to be treated. Into this, would go some chemicals to try to form a good barrier to stop things like termites crossing over into the building? However, this did have a down side since the whole garden or outside area would have to be disrupted for some days, and then refilled after the liquid was poured in. If the garden was landscaped, or there were some prized specimens growing there, all could be spoiled just trying to rid the place of the pesky termite.
Next is the electronic method of trying to keep all things out of the place. This gadget would emit a sonic sound, too high for the human ear to hear, so that pests would get frightened and run away from the place. The clever thing about these is that they were given several sounds to emit in cycles so that multiple unwanted visitors could be sorted out at the same time. Although they work on rodents and roaches etc, one wonders whether the termite, buried deep into our favorite furniture, would hear or care what was going on outside?
Gassing houses has also been tried and is still used up to today. The whole house is tented and a gas bomb or spray is set off inside. This works well and normally sends all unwanted visitors packing. The downside though is that the family will have to vacate for several days. The gas used is noxious and since it has to permeate every orifice in the place, no one is allowed in to open a window or door until the whole process is finished.
Lastly, the newer modern methods of sending something like termites on their way does include some digging for sure, but does not disrupt anything at all. This method drives long tubes into the ground, and this can be the garden or a concrete sidewalk, and into the tubes goes some poisoned bait. Operatives who offer this service come back regularly to check where the infestation is and if the bait is being taken. By doing this, they can kill the queen at some point. Once the queen kicks the bucket, so does the rest of the colony and this then is a clean and neat way of ensuring that the building lasts a long time.
