Prep Sports Electronic Stats

Don’t you miss the old days of chalk boards and coaches slamming down clipboards when a play goes wrong in high school football? Pretty soon, kids won’t even know what a chalk board is with the advent of Smart Boards and clip boards??? What is that..some kind of Ipad knock off? The times are a changing and it was a matter of time before Buck Rogers got his hands on prep football playmaking and scoring. The new trend is for electronic playmaking and it’s coming to a sideline near you. Let’s take a look at the new technology and how it works.

In the end, the game of high school football is pretty much the same which his why we love it. The best things in life don’t seem to change up which speaks to how great an idea they were to begin with. That isn’t to say that new plays, abilities, and technologies don’t come get thrown in the prep sport blender every now and then. The newest arrival comes in the form of electronic gear to measure, calculate, and plan every part of the game. There’s actually a few companies out there that offer the technology. You have giants of the online prep sport world such as Max Preps newest Ipad/Iphone app available on Itunes called MaxStats which is a sophisticated piece of software used to load a wide array of stats from any high school football game. You can see why they went through the trouble…ultimately, it’s a great venue to get a hold of the much coveted prep sport football stats without having to send out employees all over the U.S. Very smart. You also have companies that are selling products such as DakStats and DigitalScout. They either want to sell the hardware of software but they products are pretty slick in terms of capturing and displaying high school football stats. Statbook, StatCrew Software, Figyrs, and FixedIt are other options as well.

It’s touch to say which is best and coachds and fans probably their own preferences. Some of the prep sport football software is even offering more technical analysis for play calling to give coaches a visual idea of what has worked against a given team and what might be a good option. Most good coaches can do this in their head and seeing defensive or offensive weakness/strengths is what makes them good to begin with but for the technical tacticians, the new software out there is just another weapon in an escalating arms race of high school football strategy.

You would expect to see some consolidation over the next 5-10 years with a few key players in the electronic football stats game. At some point, every one wants to speak the same language and judging by most coaches disdain for new-fangled technology, we imagine it’s going to be the interface that’s easiest to use and understand. Football coaches are known for being lovers of tradition…that’s what got them into the game in the first place. In the end, everyone’s hungry for the end results…high school football stats and these systems all capture really well.
