* Have an enough space

When making a fire pit, be sure to find a big space which can accommodate a big structure. Take note that even if you will make a stone fire pit, it can occupy a large space. Even experts suggest that if you plan to make one, you should build it in a large area. In addition, the location should have an enough distance from woods, plywood, and other things which can easily create fires.

Aside from considering a plan, you need also to consider a large area which is spacious enough. Since the fire pit\’s walls are thick, you should reserve an area where your friends and family members can seat around it.

* Markings

Determine the middle of the area for the pit and also its surrounding space and make a key mark on it. Get a string and have it tied to every end of the marker stick. Stretch it and place it to your desired edge of the fire pit. Try to move the string in a circular manner and use chalk or anything which can mark the desired size of your pit. Have the circle cleared and proceed to the next step in making stone fire pit.

Cut the string and left 12 inches in height. That dimension will be the thickness of your pit walls. Make additional circle using the center string and a marker. Have the space between the two lines cleared to make the bottom of your pit.

* Cement mixture and setting mortar

This step is intended for cementing your firepit. Have the right mixture of the cement and pour it into the circle equally in the space where the pit is to be built. Be sure that the cement hit the ground level by at least one and one half inches. Now, you can add rebar pieces for more support. Allow the cement or concrete to rest completely.

Now your stone pit\’s base is developed. This time you may do the mortar and stone arrangement. Setting stone and mortar is a difficult task, therefore, you should get further instructions which clearly explain how to set these correctly.
