The Beauty of Solar Power
The weather is getting warmer now and the days become longer, stretching out into the early evening hours, blessing us with warmth and light. Sitting at my kitchen table I can finally feel the warmth of the sun through the window on my back – a welcome sensation I have missed the past few gray and wintry months.
Besides being a natural mood enhancer, sunshine is so crucial to our world that it amazes me that we have taken so long to harness this natural resource to our advantage. It is hard to believe also that so many possible strides in this area were shot down years ago.
It is only in the past few years that the average citizen is starting to realize that solar energy and power is not something that will only benefit the so-called “tree huggers” in the world, but will actually benefit the economy and country as a whole.
People who are not environmentalists can take comfort in the solar industry’s ability to stimulate growth, jobs and the economy, while their green friends can applaud corporate efforts that also protect and maintain mother earth.
The ability to bring solar power to small, remote villages in third-world countries has actually not only changed the lives of people alive right now, but also changed the lives of their future grandchildren.
Solar power is one of the most exciting alternatives to traditional energy sources around. It seems a bit of a shame that it is only greed that ultimately made this avenue of energy so viable.
It seems that the biggest patriots in America would welcome the opportunity to get out from our country’s dependence on foreign supplies of our energy and power. It would just make sense that as one of – if not the – most powerful country on earth would be able to provide its citizens with its own power sources.
Without the sun there would be no life, so it just makes perfect sense that humankind would naturally turn to this unending life-giving resource as a way to sustain our own lives.
The beauty of solar power is that it is not only for the sun-drenched southern United States, but it can be harnessed and used as far north as New Jersey. It is a mistake to think that solar power is only possible in the warmest, sunniest states. Wherever the sun shines, we can tap into that never-ending resource.
We can use it to power and heat our homes. We can use it to run our vehicles. We can use it to generate power for other needs. The most exciting new development of all is hearing about people who run their homes completely on solar power and yet are tied to the electrical grid. Some of these people channel their solar power into the grid and then borrow back whatever energy they need, say at night or on cloudy days. The amazing thing is hearing about the people who give more energy than they sue and these people actually get a check each month from the power company. It is the wave of the future.
