Tips on How to Find Jobs For Retirees

Jobs for retirees has a positive effect on both a senior\’s physical and mental health.

You don\’t think so?

Okay, let\’s first of all straighten out meanings. At the first glance, the expression jobs for retirees itself appears to be a conflict of roles.

On the one hand you have a state of employment, jobs. While the other end, retiree, carries with it the inherent meaning that the individual has already completed a history of holding down a job for quite a while and is ready for a rest.

Both are basically correct, segmented definitions of jobs for retirees.

The confusion really lies in the concept of being a retiree. The general public\’s definition of retirees are individuals who have given their best years to jobs already and are due to be put out to pasture.

All that remains for them to do, from the public\’s point of view, is to devote their declining years to harvesting financial investments and enjoying large pensions.

Therefore, a retiree\’s days should be spent playing golf, shopping, traveling and enjoying the grandchildren.

Oh! They can also while away the hours plotting investments for their accumulated earnings and stock options.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Unfortunately, the public interpretation of a retiree\’s life has very little comparison to its reality at all. It is a complete fantasy taken out of fairy tales.

Let\’s now tell the real story!

First of all, throw away the belief that retirees are over the proverbial hill, or that they have already expended their best years slaving away for some nameless organization.

Retirement usually takes place at a person\’s 65th year on this planet. This is not the end of their trip on earth., however. Most retirees are usually very active and in good physical shape after 65.

You have probably seen retirees jogging on trails or side streets at all times of the day and night. I can speak as a senior, we take pretty good care of ourselves physically, and are far from being candidates for the scrap heap.

Bearing this statement out, recent scientific studies also verify that advancing age has minimal effect on mental acumen, involving past training and experience.

Overall, retirees are for the most part, almost as sharp and capable as they were when they were younger and freshly minted for circulation.

If you are a senior citizen, don\’t sell yourself short just because the public conception of retirees is flawed.

Jobs for retirees is a huge, growing segment of the employment marketplace, and you actually have proven skills and experience that are being sought by employers.

Currently, we are all living through a very difficult economic restructuring going on nationally and globally.

As a retiree, you undoubtedly are concerned by the downturn of the real estate and employment markets, the rising cost of living and the overt threats made about Social Security and Medicare by politicians.

These worries are more than enough to dampen anyone\’s enthusiasm for living.

But, fellow seniors, take heart! Just because you have stepped away from previous employment, it doesn\’t mean you have resigned from living.

Jobs for retirees is an avenue that will help you greatly in two very important aspects of your life.

We all know about the shrinking buying power of our structured retirement incomes versus the rising costs of living these days.

We\’ll forego that discussion for another time. We\’re not going to go into the techniques necessary for retirees to conquer the employment market today.

Instead, let\’s touch on the health aspects of jobs for retirees.

As a retiree, you lived a very structured life for decades. You had a schedule during the week of when you woke up, showered and dressed, ate breakfast and went to a job.

Oh, you probably lamented the fact you were not as rich as Bill Gates or Rockefeller. But as the years passed, you followed your pattern of life each day.

Then, lo and behold! You retired.

Gone was the schedule and job. Gone was the established pattern of your life. Gone were the workmates you liked and hated at the same time.

Do you see where we\’re going with this?

Medical science tells us that retirement from a job is an extremely traumatic mental and physical experience for most retirees. What are they now going to do with each day?

Will they sit and watch mind dulling television reruns all the time. Maybe they can listen to the furnace and air conditioner turn on an off to while away the hours.

No! Retirees, male and female, have a head full of education, experience and many ideas that are of value to organizations today.

Job retirement is a modern invention. In centuries past, a person did what they had done for a lifetime…they worked at a job.

Put everything you have stored up mentally to work, and use it. Maybe you have enough money stored up to satisfy your needs and wants. Then volunteer your time on a part time basis to businesses in need of some ideas or help.

Offer your time to organizations helping people in need.

Jobs for retirees is a vast segment of our society, and it is growing every day. If you are in need of money, there are any number of companies that could use your help.

If you don\’t need help, help those that do! You will be physically healthier for it, and you will enjoy the exercise of your mind again crackling and sparking with ideas.

Your body will feel younger again from the ongoing activity and your mind will resharpen on the rush of new ideas and thoughts.

Most of all, don\’t retire from living, and life will reward you physically and mentally for the effort!
