Learning to play the piano and mastering this musical instrument is a very rewarding experience and has many advantages over mastering other instruments. Many people think that the piano is a difficult instrument to learn, but that is not true at all because no matter which instrument you choose to learn and master, there will always be the learning curve. Once you get over that curve, things will be smooth sailing.

Learning how to play the piano is something like teaching your fingers muscle memory not unlike learning how to ride a bicycle. When the skill is acquired, it will stay with you for the rest of your life. Isn\’t that great?

Many composers started by learning how to play the piano first and often conjure up original tunes by experimenting the melodies, chords and song structures on the piano.

The only disadvantage about learning piano is that it is a heavy instrument and cannot be lugged around like the guitar or the violin. However, this disadvantage can be mitigated by getting a digital piano which is light enough to bring it to anywhere you like.

One very important aspect of being a good piano player is that it will make you very popular at social parties. People just love it when someone can play the piano for party guests to sing along. Over time, you will soon find yourself being invited to more parties than you fancy.

That may not be a bad thing because once you are popular, you will get invited to play for birthday and wedding parties and any other social events. This is when you can even charge a fee for your services and at this time, you may even consider to become a professional pianist.

If choose to be a professional, then you should accept invitations to play regularly. This is an inexpensive to advertise yourself by word of mouth. You may also teach other aspiring pianists and have a regular income. With so many advantages, why learn other how to play other instruments?
