Bad Writing Makes Smart People Look Dumb

It doesn’t matter how smart you are. If you write poorly, it reflects the same negative light on you. People won’t think you’re very smart.

Bad writing happens all of the time. Although it can be avoided or corrected, the only problem is that not all writers even notice how their writing shows. And due to laziness or meeting the deadline as soon as they can, they tend to forget reviewing their piece of work for the last time. As a result, many writers often get bad feedbacks because of the bad impressions they get from their readers.

Common bad writings include misspellings and incorrect use of the English grammar. As a writer, you need to know how to write your ideas correctly using the right words to describe your thoughts in every article that you will write.

A frequent bad writing habit that most writers do is writing homonyms without knowing that the word is not appropriate within a given sentence. Sometime, the sound of the word that you have in mind is usually spelled wrong when you are going to write it. Just for instance the word “there” often spelled “their” in writing or even vice versa.

In fact, there are lots of words with the same sound yet with different meaning and spelling. No one can even notice this kind of mistake especially if you are writing to meet its deadline or when you are in a hurry.

Failure to review your work will lead you to a higher chance of losing your credibility as a writer. As much as possible, you need to avoid it and even correct any bad writing that you will commit to avoid any problems sooner or later.

That’s why learning to write well is such a valuable skill, regardless of what field you’re in. Everyone ends up having to write in some form, whether it be emails, reports or documentation of your work. You’re going to do it, so you might as well do it right. If you write and end up doing a piss-poor job at it, it can affect your work standing.
