Beautiful Deer Eat Most Everything in Their Path

The dream for most of us is to live somewhere where nature can come right into our back yard. However, when wild animals invade and start to eat our prized plants, we do tend to give up on this romantic notion a little. For those who have been finding problems occurring, finding deer repellent plants may be the key to having some peace, but there are other forms of deer repellent which can be utilized too.

Once dead animals are seen in the locality, and this could be on main roads or side roads nearby, it normally means that their numbers have grown and that problems will occur in the near future. They are only looking for food and these beautiful creatures do not really differentiate between gardens and the wilds. However, for the avid gardener, this can prove to be a very frustrating time so he really should be prepared up front.

Some people have resorted to putting in flashing lights, music and motion sensors that go off when an animal approaches the garden. This does work to some extent, however, the neighbors may not agree so much with this particularly if it goes off in the night or very early in the morning. The animals do get used to it though so this will only work for a short time for sure. One could build a wall all round the property, or a fence, but this rather negates the affect of living in the countryside so many people do not want this. Even electric fencing can be quite expensive to run, although it does work to keep them out.

Some also try the electrified posts which they put here and there in the long grass around their places. When the animal brushes against them, they get an unpleasant tingle which scares them off right away. Again, this will take power to run so be prepared for high- energy costs. Some people spray their gardens too with chemicals which the animals do not like. Although this can be quite effective, once the rains come, it will have to be repeated regularly to keep them off. Although some of the chemicals sprays are made from natural ingredients, they do tend to break down quickly too so this is a drawback.

Clever gardeners have tried to put in plants which these animals do not like. The theory is that they will just pass on by and go eat somewhere else. However, if the gardener does not want all of these kinds of vegetables etc, he is in a dilemma for sure. Why not put a patch of their favorite edibles some way off from the garden, if possible, to draw them over that way and keep them off? This serves two purposes for sure. One is that they get enough to eat and two, stay off our beloved garden and give our specimens time to flourish. A mixture of any and all these solutions may be the key, but it will take a dedicated person to succeed.
