The brand also served as the first manufacturer to install four-wheel brakes. This new four-wheel brake technology inspired an influx of consumer interest, which helped the company expand immensely.

The company remained successful all the way up until the beginning of the war years, but was made to produce a number of designs for the military during that period. Car production began again in earnest during 1942. Buick, like other manufacturers during that period, was forced to make changes to survive post-war financial issues (such as the rising cost of fuel) and began to focus on creating automobiles which were more fuel efficient.

Surviving those difficult times helped to make Buick the rock-solid company it is today. Although the recession destroyed a number of smaller companies, Buick only built its reputation and continued to grow. During the sixties, the car company flourished and today the company has become one of the most-loved names in the car industry.
