Fences Can Be As Individualized As the Homeowner
The old cliche of the American dream is a cozy home with a white picket fence. While the image is indeed cozy, it is also, as mentioned, cliche and, as not mentioned, somewhat out of date. Sure, a white picket fence might be one of the options for a Connecticut fence, but people in Connecticut have an individual style and individual needs that would do better with an individualized CT fence.
The big stone wall is for people who love their privacy. Stone walls can be made out of actual stone, but they can also be composed of concrete, bricks or cinderblocks that are painted a bright and inviting color. Stone walls are ideal for yards that need to contain large dogs and other pets that might find a way to escape other enclosures. They are also ideal for people who are not fond of snooping neighbors or otherwise need their yard fortified with a large visual blockade.
Chain-link barriers are also very strong but usually do not provide much privacy. This style can provide privacy if the homeowner inserts flats between the links to create a visual blockade. Another option is to grow vines near the barrier and use the chain links as a creative trellis for the vines. Chain-link style consists of metal posts placed along the perimeter of the yard and eight chain-link materials attached between the posts. Even though this barrier is very cost-effective but it is not incredibly attractive. Their low cost makes them a popular option for many businesses that do not need privacy but do need a strong prevention against intruders.
Wooden barriers can be very attractive and they can offer as much or as little privacy as the homeowner desires. What is appealing about this type is the fact that it is low and contain large spaces in between the flat which are usually best for marking off large areas of land or keeping livestock contains. Other wooden styles have boards that are directly next to each other, providing a lot of privacy yet not a lot of their ability. Wood can rot or splinter in severe weather unless it is strongly fortified with a sealer applied regularly. It can also fall victim to intruders who may be able to pry the boards from the fence and gain entry by using something as simple as a crowbar.
Wrought iron barriers are another option. Although they do not offer a lot of privacy, they are very strong and can be very creative and elaborate. You can choose a variety of enhancements which include large spikes or scrolls on the fence posts, intricate designs on the gate or along the slats and slats of varying thicknesses, shapes and angles.
If privacy and security are not concerns and it is instead wholly decorative in nature the white picket style can be ideal. Picket fences have their own variation in design by using different colors other than white or including wooden scrolls or other ornamental enhancements. Low- stone walls also work as decorative fencing as does wrought iron or even decorative shrubbery.
